I’m so pleased that the amaranth family are having a renaissance and are very fashionable. Every cutting garden or small, intensive cut flower patch I visited last summer had amaranth as their late summer and autumn crowning glory. Combined here with long and late performers, phlox, rudbeckia and a late sowing of Calendula ‘Sunset Buff’, this makes a gentle but sophisticated cut-and-come-again combination.
This collection contains 5 seedlings each of :
- Amaranthus tricolor ‘Red Army’
- Amaranthus cruentus ‘Hot Biscuits’
- Rudbeckia hirta ‘Sahara Mix’
- Phlox drummondii grandiflora ‘Cherry Caramel’
- Calendula officinalis ‘Sunset Buff’
Care Tips
Sow seed indoors in spring with some warmth. Plant should be kept in a frost free place until they can be hardened off and planted outside when all danger of frost has passed. NB zinnias hate disturbance and cold nights so do not sow too early.
