Nemaslug – Biological Slug Control

Nemaslug is ideal for all gardens overrun with slugs and particularly the organic gardener. We use biological control to get rid of the slugs in our Dahlia beds in the cutting garden at Perch Hill. We find Nemaslug works well even on our heavy clay.

Nematodes are harmless to children, pets, birds and other wildlife. One treatment lasts for up to six weeks and contains millions of nematodes. Then repeat and that’s it – slugs dealt with.

Expensive but worth it and 100 times more effective and environmental compared to endless slug pellets.

Instructions included. This must be kept in the fridge and will have a ‘use’ by date on the box, as it is a biological treatment.

Soil temperatures need to be 5ºC or higher (Nb, not air temperature or wind chill). Night frosts will not affect the nematodes, they will go dormant for that period but ‘wake up’ when the ground warms. It won’t kill them off. If outside temperature is below 10ºC, products to be used in heated greenhouses only.
